Imperial Membership

RunTOBeer is free and will continue to be that way. Imperial Membership, however, offers a whole lot of extras for those who want more running and beer experiences. Very importantly, the membership fees provide the funds we need to operate RunTOBeer (e.g., putting deposits down for merchandise orders, paying for cheer station flags and signs, paying for software we use, etc.).

The RunTOBeer Imperial Membership for 2026 will initially be limited to 40 members. These spots will be open for registration until December 31, 11:30 pm or until they are sold out.

2026 Membership Benefits

Welcome Package
A small welcome package for new Imperial Members including limited-edition RunTOBeer swag (e.g., coasters, etc.)
Front of Line Access
First access to our events. You'll have approximately 24 hours advance access to the online registration before it opens up to the public. Some of our events like the three summer mid-week “Off-Script” runs to bar bossanova, Thirsty and Miserable, and Bickford Brewing had 30 spots or less and a high proportion of the people running were Imperial Members. For joint or special events sponsored by another group (such as, tune-up runs with Canada Running Series), where we don't handle registration, there's no guarantee you'll have first access.
RunTOBeer Merchandise
A minimum of 10% discount on new orders of RunTOBeer-branded technical and casual clothing, and accessories
Imperial Member Exclusive Events and Experiences
In 2025, these included:
- A curated whisky tasting
- The opportunity to be a brewer's helper to make a collaborative special RunTOBeer x Granite Brewery beer
- A tour of Bellwood's Hafis Road Brewery
Other Experiences
Not exclusive but most of the group attending were Imperial Members (e.g. Brewer's Table Dinner at GLB Brewpub)
Free Passes to Events
Occasionally RunTOBeer is given a few passes to events. When we get them we offer them to Imperial Members first. In 2025 these included City Shred events like the Brooks Brunch and The Bentway
Race Discounts
Throughout the year, we'll get discounts for races, and sometimes FREE race entries - and we will pass them on to you first. This includes The Barley Marathons, of course. Imperial Members will again save $5 on race entry in 2026.
Discounts at Run Destinations
In 2025 this included 10% food and beverage discount at GLB Brewpub; 20% food discount at Fox and John's Liberty Village. These discounts will likely continue for 2026.
Free Beer Swag
Occasionally we get beer related merchandise and Imperial Members get them (e.g., Veltins Pilsner Glasses)
Other Discounts
Throughout the year, we will be working on securing other discounts for apparel, fitness, and with breweries/brewpubs, etc. You will get first access, and often the ONLY access to all of those (or higher discounts than available to other members).

About the name

In the beer world, the term Imperial implies a bigger, stronger version of a style. We're borrowing from that, not to imply that Imperial members have any elite status when it comes to our events -- there will be no Imperial badges or secret handshakes -- just the opportunity to participate in more beer and running events outside of regular RunTOBeer activities.
